Reviews of Provex City (and reviewing my posting schedule)!

Provex City has found its way onto two more blogs, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'd like to thank the prolific blogger extraordinaire, Michael Offutt, and a truly elegant writer, Tanya @ That's What She Said. Both blogs are entertaining, insightful, well written, and regular destinations of mine. I find myself searching and struggling to find post topics, and Michael has interesting, expertly executed posts four to five times a week! I don't know how he does it. Tanya doesn't post as regularly, but when she does they are thought provoking collections of beautiful prose. I aspire to write so well. Thank you again for taking the time to highlight Provex City!
The excitement around Provex City has inspired me to work my butt off on SUSY Asylum. I am finally in full editing mode. Right now SUSY Asylum is over a hundred pages longer than Provex City, so we'll see what I trim it down to by the end of my editing rounds. Right now is so much fun because I'm hitting parts in the story that I've only read once, so they feel brand new--and I've found details I completely forgot about. There's a lot of work left to be done, but I'm confident I can have it available by the end of the year.

With my work left to do on SUSY Asylum and furthering my self-promotion of Provex City, I feel I should alter my posting schedule. I'm certainly not going anywhere, I just need to reorganize some of my time. I will still be visiting everyone on a weekly basis. Posting less will alleviate some of my stress of the dreaded "what am I going to post about next/now?!" I spend too much time staring at a blank post screen, looking down at the clock in the corner of the screen, and wondering if I'm going to finish my post before going to bed. I'll try this for awhile and see how it works. I can always adjust. Wish me luck, and I'll see you on your blog! :)

  1. I love coming across something on the pages and being so surprised that I even wrote that and that I didn't remember!

Best of luck with your edits.

Of course that should come first! Don't worry about the blog. We'll still be here when you come out of the editing cave!

  2. Congratulations on the reviews! I read Michael's.
Now you know why my normal schedule is just three times a week. I only do daily during the Challenge. Otherwise I'm scrambling for filler. Three times means I can give people the most bang for their blogging buck.
But the Ninja is always lurking...

  6. Good luck with the editing. Let me know when you are ready to share. I am also finding it hard to keep up with the blog these days. No excuses though, I'm going to light a fire under my chair and get back into the swing of things. And to Alex, I think you have to build up to even 3 days a week. 3 days takes commitment and planning. Once a week would be comfortable. But I like the idea of stretching. Congrats on your book reaching new blogs. We should catch up soon.

  7. I post five days a week, Michael, because I have no life. I'm a single guy that lives alone in an apartment. I'd try to go out and make friends, but I'm a gay atheist in a conservative religious community. Are you seeing what I'm getting at?

My blog is kind of like my surrogate communication because I don't have many people I can talk to. And because I can't stand the company of most of the people that live around me because they all want to praise Jesus, support Chick-Fil-A, and write "God Hates Fags" on Interstate billboards, I spend a lot of time indoors surfing the internet, watching t.v., or reading.

So that's why I have so much to talk about. I'd rather live in Southern California (like yourself) surrounded by educated, scientifically-minded people who are used to diversity (seeing black people).

  8. Freeing up time off the nets certainly does help. Glad things are going well with your book.

  9. Congrats on the good promotion. It's an awesome feeling finding good stuff you'd forgotten about! I know that "what to post next" feeling - it's totally allowed to kick back to perfect the WIP. I haven't had much time over the summer and it seems like all my posts recently have been for blogfests - I'm wondering about my next original material!

  10. Thank you so much for the high praise, Michael. I know my review won't reach as many eyes as some of the more followed blogs out there, but I do intend to follow through on my threat/promise of a full and detailed review on Amazon... since that's the one site where I think it would really count. It was my pleasure to review your book since it was such a pleasure to read. Immediately after, I thought of so many questions... but some you've already started to answer here on your blog. (Like how do you dedicate the time to keep up with your blog and your novel writing?) I'm still in awe of your accomplishments, still trying to find the time to finish my own work (though after reading what you've done, I do have some extra inspiration at the moment), and still eagerly anticipating your next book. Congrats again, you've truly earned every good review you've received!

  11. Kyra, thank you!

Heather, I don't want you to think I'm going somewhere.

Alex, you are the ninja. Props to that!

    Nutschell, thanks so much! :)

Heather, that's so exciting to hear! thank you. :)

Medeia, thank you. I know you're all about goal setting.

James, I meant to call you on my drive today, but I forgot my blue tooth. I'll be sure to remember tomorrow.

Michael, sorry, I wasn't trying to stir anything up. I was just trying to express how much I like your blog.

    Mary, thanks! :)

Nick, blogfests have been a nice safety net. I know what you mean.

Tanya, I hope it's more of a promise than a threat. Haha. Thanks for the support! :)

  15. Best of luck on that book and readjusting your schedule! Blogging is no fun if you have to force yourself to do it.

  17. Trisha, well you did anyway, and it was hilarious. :)

Carol, they are fun. It seems like a lot of people are adjusting right now. Now I don't feel so bad.

    Michael, thanks. :)

Allison, that's true, and from being stressed about obligations to keep up.

    Golden Eagle, thank you!

  18. I thought posting less would mean more time for what I needed to do and then other things came up. Still cutting back on blogging can be a very good thing.

Hope you're getting a lot done and selling a lot of Provex City.

  25. I'm so excited for you Michael. The reviews of Provex city rock, just like you.

I totally understand about revising the blogging schedule. This month has been a fustercluck for me and I've had to modify a few things too.

I have Provex City on my TBR list, so hopefully I can add to your list of reviews. Looking forward to it. :)
