The excitement around Provex City has inspired me to work my butt off on SUSY Asylum. I am finally in full editing mode. Right now SUSY Asylum is over a hundred pages longer than Provex City, so we'll see what I trim it down to by the end of my editing rounds. Right now is so much fun because I'm hitting parts in the story that I've only read once, so they feel brand new--and I've found details I completely forgot about. There's a lot of work left to be done, but I'm confident I can have it available by the end of the year.
With my work left to do on SUSY Asylum and furthering my self-promotion of Provex City, I feel I should alter my posting schedule. I'm certainly not going anywhere, I just need to reorganize some of my time. I will still be visiting everyone on a weekly basis. Posting less will alleviate some of my stress of the dreaded "what am I going to post about next/now?!" I spend too much time staring at a blank post screen, looking down at the clock in the corner of the screen, and wondering if I'm going to finish my post before going to bed. I'll try this for awhile and see how it works. I can always adjust. Wish me luck, and I'll see you on your blog! :)
Good luck with your edits!!
ReplyDeleteI love coming across something on the pages and being so surprised that I even wrote that and that I didn't remember!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your edits.
Of course that should come first! Don't worry about the blog. We'll still be here when you come out of the editing cave!
Heather
Congratulations on the reviews! I read Michael's.
ReplyDeleteNow you know why my normal schedule is just three times a week. I only do daily during the Challenge. Otherwise I'm scrambling for filler. Three times means I can give people the most bang for their blogging buck.
But the Ninja is always lurking...
that's great news michael! good luck with your editing!

I am so excited about SUSY Asylum!!! I recently finished Provex City and now I want more :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the reviews. It's wonderful receiving feedback that spurs us on. Good luck with edits. It sounds like you have a reasonable deadline.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the editing. Let me know when you are ready to share. I am also finding it hard to keep up with the blog these days. No excuses though, I'm going to light a fire under my chair and get back into the swing of things. And to Alex, I think you have to build up to even 3 days a week. 3 days takes commitment and planning. Once a week would be comfortable. But I like the idea of stretching. Congrats on your book reaching new blogs. We should catch up soon.
ReplyDeleteI post five days a week, Michael, because I have no life. I'm a single guy that lives alone in an apartment. I'd try to go out and make friends, but I'm a gay atheist in a conservative religious community. Are you seeing what I'm getting at?
ReplyDeleteMy blog is kind of like my surrogate communication because I don't have many people I can talk to. And because I can't stand the company of most of the people that live around me because they all want to praise Jesus, support Chick-Fil-A, and write "God Hates Fags" on Interstate billboards, I spend a lot of time indoors surfing the internet, watching t.v., or reading.
So that's why I have so much to talk about. I'd rather live in Southern California (like yourself) surrounded by educated, scientifically-minded people who are used to diversity (seeing black people).
Freeing up time off the nets certainly does help. Glad things are going well with your book.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the good promotion. It's an awesome feeling finding good stuff you'd forgotten about! I know that "what to post next" feeling - it's totally allowed to kick back to perfect the WIP. I haven't had much time over the summer and it seems like all my posts recently have been for blogfests - I'm wondering about my next original material!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the high praise, Michael. I know my review won't reach as many eyes as some of the more followed blogs out there, but I do intend to follow through on my threat/promise of a full and detailed review on Amazon... since that's the one site where I think it would really count. It was my pleasure to review your book since it was such a pleasure to read. Immediately after, I thought of so many questions... but some you've already started to answer here on your blog. (Like how do you dedicate the time to keep up with your blog and your novel writing?) I'm still in awe of your accomplishments, still trying to find the time to finish my own work (though after reading what you've done, I do have some extra inspiration at the moment), and still eagerly anticipating your next book. Congrats again, you've truly earned every good review you've received!
ReplyDeleteKyra, thank you!
ReplyDeleteHeather, I don't want you to think I'm going somewhere.
Alex, you are the ninja. Props to that!
Nutschell, thanks so much! :)
Heather, that's so exciting to hear! thank you. :)
Medeia, thank you. I know you're all about goal setting.
James, I meant to call you on my drive today, but I forgot my blue tooth. I'll be sure to remember tomorrow.
Michael, sorry, I wasn't trying to stir anything up. I was just trying to express how much I like your blog.
Mary, thanks! :)
Nick, blogfests have been a nice safety net. I know what you mean.
Tanya, I hope it's more of a promise than a threat. Haha. Thanks for the support! :)
Congrats on the additional exposure (I almost wrote indecent exposure... oops!). I love this blogger writer community. So supportive :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be adjusting my blogging schedule, too. No worries. We will find you :)
ReplyDeleteLove when that Did I Write This moment happens!
Oh you didn't stir anything up, Michael. :) I was just explaining myself. Thank you for the compliment about my blog. You and your writing are awesome.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on that book and readjusting your schedule! Blogging is no fun if you have to force yourself to do it.
ReplyDeleteAllison (Geek Banter)
Good luck with your editing! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations on the reviews. They're both awesome!
Trisha, well you did anyway, and it was hilarious. :)
ReplyDeleteCarol, they are fun. It seems like a lot of people are adjusting right now. Now I don't feel so bad.
Michael, thanks. :)
Allison, that's true, and from being stressed about obligations to keep up.
Golden Eagle, thank you!
I thought posting less would mean more time for what I needed to do and then other things came up. Still cutting back on blogging can be a very good thing.
ReplyDeleteHope you're getting a lot done and selling a lot of Provex City.
Lee
Tossing It Out
Congratulations on the positive reviews, definitely well deserved!
ReplyDeleteI can certainly understand your need to adjust the posting schedule. Good luck with the edits, I know I will be looking forward to SUSY!
Lee, it seems like there's always something. I'm just trying my best to balance my time.
ReplyDeleteJulie, thank you! I'm doing my best to get it done. :)
Congrats on the reviews and good luck on your edits! It's got to be such an incredible experience to see your book take life like this. Enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteHey Michael, I featured Provex City in my Teaser Tuesday last week. Here is the link:http://cmbrown-books.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/teaser-tuesday_14.html
ReplyDeleteI am reading it at the moment, good read! Will post my review on Goodreads when I'm finished.
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. It looks like lots of people are adjusting their schedules. I'm so happy for you about the reviews. I can't wait to read my copy.
Oh the joy of edits... gaaaaaah... you have my full sympathies! (Unless you love it, then you have my full excitement)
ReplyDeleteAnd Michael does have a great blog. I always enjoy his posts! (As I do yours!)
I'm so excited for you Michael. The reviews of Provex city rock, just like you.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about revising the blogging schedule. This month has been a fustercluck for me and I've had to modify a few things too.
I have Provex City on my TBR list, so hopefully I can add to your list of reviews. Looking forward to it. :)
