IWSG Wednesday: Year End
Happy Insecure Writer's Support Group Wednesday. Thank you again to Alex J. Cavanaugh, the creator of the group. The first Wednesday of every month is dedicated to this group of supportive writers. So a month ago I had just submitted SUSY Asylum to my editor. I guess it's safe to say I've been more than a little anxious. Well, he finished over the weekend and I will get the manuscript back this week. I spoke with him briefly about general stuff, and his overall critique was thankfully positive!
Judging by the corrections and suggestions I received for Provex City, I'll have plenty of work to keep me busy for the next few weeks. One suggestion I already received that I'm rather excited about is trashing the present preface for a new idea. I love the one I wrote, but the new idea is undoubtedly better. Now I just need to write it. That happened to me with Provex City, too. The original prologue is still sitting on my desk top, replaced in the available book by a new prologue that was the last thing I'd written for the book.
I feel like I've learned a lot this year with releasing my first book, finishing my second, and creating a blog. My time has been spread thin, promotion's been a challenge, and words have been hard to come by at times. But I'm still here and still going. I have high hopes for 2013, starting the year off with a blog tour for Provex City, releasing SUSY Asylum, and getting into the thick of book three. Thirteen's my lucky number; we'll see if that remains true.
Are you ready for Christmas yet? Care to share a New Year's resolution? As always, thank you for reading!

It's great when you get to work with an editor who gives you great ideas for improvement.
ReplyDeleteNot even close to ready for Christmas.
Glad his thoughts were positive and he gave you a better idea for the prologue.
ReplyDeleteYour news all sound encouraging.
ReplyDeleteNo where near ready for Christmas yet. I'm a last minute shopper, for sure. And one of my New Year's resolutions is going to be listening more and speaking less. Definitely going to be a struggle for a big mouth like me. :)
Christmas is in the bag! Everything else is up in the air. Honestly, I would love to have your writing problems right now!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy December and a very successful New Year!
Pleased you have had some good advice Michael.
ReplyDeleteIt makes all the difference.
Yvonne.
I'm glad to hear it was a good year and I wish 2013 will bring many more blessings. My family is visiting for Christmas, my parents and the in-laws, so I'll be quite busy entertaining everyone. But that's fun, I like to have a full house for the holidays. Now, for next year I'll be working on Deliverance and fine-tuning a bunch of short stories. So my goal is to have at least five short stories making the rounds and the novel ready by the end of the year. We'll see how that goes...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the holidays, Michael!
I have a vacation the first week of January so I want Christmas to get here asap. I can't wait to tear up Vegas baby!
ReplyDeleteYou've had an amazing year! Congrats on the positive feedback from the editor. I've no doubt SUSY will be great.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot to be proud of this year! So glad your initial feedback was positive; I'm sure your notes/revisions will be awesome. A blog tour? Wow, that's huge!! When will we know more about it?
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great year! It's nice to get positive feedback.

Hello from IWSG...That's wonderful that you got positive feedback from your editor! Great that you're staying motivated and busy. One of my New Year resolutions is just to keep at it with the writing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the positive feedback! I look forward to reading SUSY Asylum in 2013... and I can't help but wonder what the original prologue of Provex City was about. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great year for you! And 2013 will be even better.
ReplyDeleteSounds like 2012 was pretty darn awesome, Michael! :) Here's to an even better 2013!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I tend to rewrite my beginnings, too. I'm hoping 2013 is awesome for ya!
